Forget about Wild Wheat and Maggie's, those places are crowded. We tried to go to both until we were told about a 45 minute wait, so we came here. What an undiscovered gem of Kent!!!
Came here for breakfast on Sunday. Tried an empanada stuffing, cheese, meet, potatoes and poached egg dish. Very yummy! Something different and new that I don't see at most places!
Server was nice. The food is cooked where you can see it being made behind the counter. Makes the whole place smell wonderful!
They also have a full bar, so had a mimosa with my meal as well. It was great! Most places seem to put way to much OJ in them. This one was perfect and actually served in a champagne flute (which makes it taste better and myself feel mor fancy).
Will be back here again! -

This is a fine restaurant. My wife and I came here today for brunch. My wife had the empanada with a cilantro creme sauce and I had the eggs Benedict. They were both excellently done. My wife's empanada was filled with a wonderful combination of what seemed to chorizo and cheese and the creme sauce set it off perfectly. The fruit on the side was sweet and the potatoes were perfectly done to our tastes.
Typically when I go to a new restaurant for breakfast I order eggs Benedict. I make my own Hollandaise sauce so I have high expectations. They were met. The Hollandaise sauce was the perfect thickness and texture. The lemon stood out without being overbearing. Every piece of it was the best I could have expected.
The down side (and the only reason they lost a star) was that the coffee and utensils arrived after the food. Nevertheless, the coffee was very good. They had just had a BIG rush of people and that was more than likely the consequence. We will be back again! -

Was excited to visit during Cornucopia Days, as this has been one of our favorite 'booths'. The restaurant wasn't very busy so we decided to order.
Ordered a couple of rounds of drinks and found that they weren't made according to the menu. Ordered food, due to dietary needs, I requested their French Onion Soup with no bread. Not too tough, just broil the cheese on the soup, right? Nope. Came with cheese toast on the side. Got quite the glares when I asked for it to be made differently. My side salad was taken away before I was even finished.
Could be a great place if staff were trained on how to make cocktails and treat customers well. -

Swanky!
I love love love the decor. Its industrial meets whimsical. I enjoyed how they created a bar and cafe space separate from the seating area with "covered" whimsical delights.
I was in a rush for lunch and chose take away option. Enjoyed having a staple liked grilled cheese and salad. Its nice to have a option that can't go wrong, and they delivered! -

Well my husband and I tried Dogwood Cafe & Lounge out today on a whim, and it was well below our expectations. We were one of two customers in the restaurant and surprised at the poor service and poor food quality. Our drinks (Hefeweizen and The Botanist) were decent but ungarnished, our food was not presented as ordered, and we were mis-charged. I ordered a chopped cob salad which didn't come with chicken, blue cheese, or a boiled egg- when I asked the staff claimed the chicken and egg was not prepared. My husband ordered the Cuban sandwich a la carte and we were told we would get a few bucks off our bill, but we ended up being charged in full for both my half-made salad and my husbands a la carte sandwich.
Aside from pricing and quality, we saw each of the four employees serve themselves food and beverages over the hour we were there. When we ordered our lunch, the cook was in the corner with her children on a laptop and certainly didn't rush up to start making our food. This spot must be losing money if not from the lack of customers then from the sheer overhead costs of feeding their own workers instead. It felt more like a daycare than a cafe & lounge, and with the limited options for dining on the south end of Seattle it is sad to say that we may not come back.
